Chili Rellanos

green chile egg casserole

Ingredients

8 slices sourdough bread

butter

2 c. (8 oz) shredded cheddar cheese

2 c (8 oz) shredded monterey jack cheese

4 oz can diced green chiles

6 eggs, beaten

2 c. milk

2 t. paprika

1/2 t. oregano

1/2 t. dry mustard

1 t. salt

1/2 t. pepper

1/2 t. garlic powder

 

Directions

Trim crusts off of bread.  Butter bread and place butter side down in greased 7x11 baking dish.  Top with cheeses.  Sprinkle with chilies.  Combine eggs, milk, and spices.  Pour over cheese.  Cover and chill 4 hours or overnight.  Bake uncovered at 325 for 50-60 minutes.  Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
