Beer Bread

No bread? Some beer? ...you can see where I'm going with this...the bread is made of beer

Ingredients

  • 3 c. self rising flour
    • Or, make your own with 3 c. all purpose flour, 4 1/2 t. baking powder, 3 t. salt
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 12 oz beer (room temp or you'll kill the rise)

Directions

  • Preheat oven tp 350
  • Mix all ingredients, but don't overwork it (17 - 20 turns).  The dough is pretty wet.
  • Place in greased loaf pan
  • bake for 1 hour, then test it by tapping the bottom of the bread - you want a hollow sound.
  • Brush with butter at 45 minutes if you want
